Instruction:

Belay Guide $45 (per person)

A belay guide is a Boulder Bear staff member who will accompany you for one hour, allowing you to have full access to all of the roped climbs in the facility. This type of booking includes full rentals. 

Intro to Climbing Course $55

This course is designed for participants age 13 and up. The participants will be shown how to tie knots, use equipment and operate the ropes for one another using our top ropes. This package comes with a one-week membership as well as rental equipment for the day the course is taken. This course takes between an hour to an hour and a half.

Refresher $15

The refresher is designed for those who have previous belaying experience but would like a 20 minute course to brush up on their skills prior to the belay test.

Advanced Lesson $50

The advanced lesson is designed for those looking to further their climbing abilities. The advanced lesson can cover the topic of technique or lead climbing. One of our advanced instructors can teach technique in order to improve the efficiency of your climbing or they can also teach participant’s how to lead climb and lead belay. If the participant is looking to learn to lead belay, they need to bring their own appropriately rated climbing rope. This course can take between an hour or two hours depending on the group.

Completing our waiver has never been easier! Simply follow the link below to complete an online version. After you've finished the waiver, accept the confirmation email and we'll have a copy in our system by the time you arrive for your climb. Waivers for participants under the age of 18 will need to be completed by a parent or legal guardian.

Birthday Parties

Boulder Bear Climbing Centre offers a unique, challenging, and fun environment to host birthday parties, school groups, corporate events, or any other group looking for an active and fun activity. Our experienced staff will take care of all of the safety so you and your children can relax and have fun.

Your birthday party booking will include:

  • Harnesses for all party guests

  • Day Pass

  • 2.5 hours with a belay guide

  • Exclusive use of our private party room throughout the 2.5 hours of the party

Please note:

  • Parents are welcome to watch or participate in the climbing.

  • Party guests are not permitted to use the fitness equipment.

  • A deposit of $120 + HST (equal to 5 party guests) will be required at the time of booking.

  • Each additional climber after the first 5 will be $24 + HST and will be accounted for and charged on the day of the party

  • Cancellations may be made, but only a 50% refund will be given.

  • If cancellations are made within a week of the party date, the deposit is forfeited.

CLIMBING Lessons

Kids That Rock: Monday’s OR Wednesday’s 5:30 - 6:30

FUNdamentals 1 : Tuesday’s OR Thursday’s 5:30 - 7:00

FUNdamentals 2: Tuesday’s OR Thursday’s 7:00 - 8:30 (twice a week available)

Climb For Life / Performance Development: Monday’s and Wednesday’s 6:30 - 8:30

Competitive Team: Monday 6:00 - 7:30, Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 - 8:00

Adults (16+): Monday’s AND/OR Wednesday’s 6:30pm - 8:00pm

 

All classes will be taught by certified climbing instructors. Climbers will receive progress reports at the end of each session that outlines the students progress.  

Youth lessons will run for 10 weeks beginning the week of November 26th, 2018.

Adult lessons will run for 6 weeks, beginning the week of December 10th, 2018.

All prices include Day Pass, Instruction and harness.

Climbers should have clean indoor footwear. Option to include climbing shoe rental is an additional $35 for the entire program.    

 

Kids That Rock: This program is geared to children 7 years of age and under. The emphasis is on fun and making the new climbers comfortable in a gym environment and moving over rock efficiently. COST: $150 per climber. 

FUNdamentals 1: Designed for the climbers first experience with climbing. Learn the climbing basics. Learn: To Belay, develop safety skills, understand basic movement and techniques and learn Climbology (Climbing Terminology). COST: $240 per climber. AGES: 8 - 12.

FUNdamentls 2: Continue to grow your climbing knowledge, skill and passion. This program builds on skills learned in Fundamentals 1. Program content is most often mastered over the course of 2 or 3 sessions. Master intermediate movement and techniques. Learn: Basic training planning, Warming up, Conditioning and team dynamics. *Must have completed Fundamentals 1 or equivalent knowledge*. COST: $240 per climber. AGES: 8 - 12.

Climb for Life/Performance Development: This is for athletes looking to learn about and/or prepare for competition climbing or performance climbing. Learn: Competition formats and tactics, how to train to avoid injury, discover lead climbing and lead belaying, develop transferable indoor to outdoor climbing knowledge. COST: $480 per climber. AGES: 10 - 16.

Competitive: The competitive program is designed for athletes that want to push their climbing to the next level. The focus of this program is having each climber excel at their level and to steadily improve of the course of a competitive season. This program is a personal result based program and a completion placing based program. The completion aspect is for the enjoyment of the sport and the opportunity to meet climbers from other areas and countries. Athletes will be instructed in climbing techniques, fitness, lead climbing, belaying both on top rope and lead, indoor and outdoor climbing, bouldering and proper nutrition for healthy lifestyle. athletes will have the opportunity to compete in a variety of competitions throughout the year in a variety of locations. Training will be Monday from 6:00 to 7:30 and Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00. (SEPT to mid June) and an annual membership, local competition fee and Team shirt.

Adult Climbing: This program is designed for climbers who wish to learn about climbing and/or improve their climbing technique. This program introduces new climbers to the sport of rock climbing and helps seasoned climbers build upon their climbing knowledge. Learn the climbing basics, advanced movements, warm-ups, conditioning and much more! COST: $150 /once a week. AGE: 16 and up.

What you need to bring: (ALWAYS DRESS FOR THE OUTDOORS)

-          Indoor Shoes

-          2 snacks and a lunch

-          Appropriate footwear and clothing for days spent outdoors

-          Water bottle

-          A photocopy of the participant’s health card

-          Have previously filled out a Boulder Bear waiver form

Outdoor Experiences

Boulder Bear is proud to employ thunder bays only association of canadian mountain guides (ACMG) certified instructors. 

 

Intro to Rock:  

  • Boulder Bear brings all the gear. Does all the set up and heavy lifting. You just come and climb till you can’t climb anymore
  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Locations: Either the Bluffs, Silver Harbour or Pass Lake
  • COST: $30 per person

Transition Gym to Rock:  

  • Indoor to Outdoor. Start off at Boulder Bear Climbing Centre and learn all of the knots and top rope systems in the on the ground in the gym setting. After mastering the material in a controlled environment we will spend the afternoon out at the cliff putting into practice what we learned in the morning session
  • Duration: 6 hours
  • Locations: Bluffs, Silver Harbour and Pass Lake
  • COST: $60 per person

Beginner Rock: 

  • A great introduction to climbing. Let Boulder Bear supply all the gear. Learn the necessary knots, how to belay, cliff safety and basic climbing technique
  • Duration: 4 hours
  • Locations: Bluffs, Silver Harbour and Pass Lake
  • COST: $40 per person

Group/Family: 4 Hours.

  • Let Boulder Bear plan your next group outing or family activity. We will bring all the gear you need, set everything up and provide you with a fantastic experience
  • Duration: 4 hours
  • Location: YOU pick the destination! 
  • COST: $35 per person

Private Sessions:
